Bee Brilliant: Eighth-Grader Crowned Champion in Thrilling Spelling Contest
On July 17, 2024 students from seventh and eighth grade showcased their linguistic talents in the school’s first spelling bee („Buchstabierwettberb“). The event was hosted by Ms. Kostede and Ms. Träger, who guided the contestants, the jury members (students from grade 10 and 11) and the audience through the event. The 11 participants faced off in multiple rounds, spelling challenging words and performing under pressure in front of the audience. Between rounds, students from the audience joined fun games such as competing against our Scotsman, Mr. MacPhail, who might have broken a sweat. J
In the end, Marta Del Vecchio (8f) succeeded against Oskar List (7a) and took home the trophy as the first Spelling Bee Champion. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a big success.
The English department looks forward to the next spelling bee in January 2025.
1st place: Marta Del Vecchio (8f) and 2nd place: Oskar List (7a) | Ms. Kostede, Mr. MacPhail and Ms. Träger |
